What I liked best about Koyo was his honesty. I always felt safe and could trust him, because from the beginning he was upfront and telling me when conditions weren’t good for surfing, or when we were better to drive to the other side of the island to get surfable waves during wet season. We would see other surf schools driving out knowing the conditions were very poor, because of the pressure from bigger companies to take clients out anyway, but Koyo would be honest and make sure when we did go out, it was enjoyable and worthwhile. His coaching was so helpful, he helped me pick up skills to surf again after ten years and by day three had me on bigger waves. He is kind, patient, and upbeat.
